OM5428 phase control and general purpose triac triggering circuit
The OM5428 phase control and general-purpose triac IC replaces the now obsolete TCA280B. The OM5428 phase control circuit can be easily used for motor speed control. It can also be configured as a soft start motor controller to eliminate the effect of motor high starting torque. The OM5428 on/off switching is designed to switch at mains zero crossing to minimise RF interference and mains transients. Other feature of the OM5428 includes time proportional control that provides more accurate temperature control by avoiding temperature overshoot that is apparent in basic on/off control. The OM5428 is the ideal solution for the industrial and home appliances motor control where low cost and ease of speed control are essential.
