LED driver and boost power supply


LED lighting is gaining popularity, as it is more energy-efficient that incandescent bulbs making it well suited for battery-powered devices. In terms of life span, LEDs have a longer life span compared to either fluorescent or incandescent bulbs.

In many battery powered portable electronics, low power LEDs are often used because of their smaller size, higher efficiency and easier to drive. An LED driver is often used to boost the voltage and regulate the current to ensure the LED achieves optimum operation.

Hendon Semiconductors offers a single integrated circuit to boost the available supply voltage for driving a single LED or LEDs connected in series or parallel. The OM5448 LED driver most important characteristics is its ability to provide LED drive from a single or dual cell battery providing higher DC voltages for special applications or a sufficient boosted voltage to overcome the higher voltage required for driving LEDs.
