IES5541A block diagram

IES5541A basic application circuit with 48V DC coil relay.

general description

The advanced design (patent pending) used in IES5541A minimises arcing at the contacts during contact ‘make’ and ‘break’ operation by triggering a triac placed across the contacts.

The IES5541A enables the relay to fully open or close with minimised transients and arcing, hence protecting the relay contact from deterioration. With zero crossing load switching, transients and arcing are further minimised to the point where additional EMI/ RFI filtering is unnecessary in most cases.

IES5541A also supports higher than normal relay switching rate, giving the possibility of tighter temperature control in thermostatic control applications without compromising relay operating lifetime.

IES5541A can be easily used with an NTC thermistor, sensor, or a logic level as with a microcontroller. An external power supply is also available for powering a microcontroller or circuitry.

The IES5541A and its recommended circuitry are ideal for any mains rated power relays where resistive or inductive loads are to be constantly switched.
